Welcome To

Shelties Purebred and Perfect

This website has routine information about us and our adult shelties.
Please check out our Facebook page for updated pictures of our most recent sheltie puppies.

As owners of Shelties Purebred & Perfect, we pride ourselves on raising great Shelties (Shetland Sheep Dogs).  We have been business partners for a few years, one of us is going to be retiring and the other partner is learning and taking the reins. We both love Shelties because of all their great attributes. We have worked hard to build a solid reputation as a reputable breeder.  We have Veterinary Specialists test each of our breeding dogs.  Our breeding standards and practices are sound. The picture above is of both of us and our family Shelties. We have several Shelties that we use for breeding.  Some live in other family homes as co-owning/ foster dogs. We do this so no Sheltie is overbred.

I am happy to announce we are now taking applications for families to be placed on our waiting list to receive a Sheltie puppy from upcoming litters.

To get on our waiting list, you will need to send your Gmail address, your full name and phone number. We will then e-mail you an application to fill out and schedule a phone interview.

Please keep watching Facebook because we post new family pictures as early as three weeks old.  We will then feature pictures of one puppy each day when they reach four weeks of age.  A video of each puppy will then be posted at 5 weeks of age.  All the pictures will only be on Facebook.

Co-owning: This is where we place a breeding Sheltie with a local family under contract.  The local family is receiving this co-owned Sheltie for free.  By signing a contract with us the family agrees that this Sheltie, when old enough, will have 2 litters in SP&P’s home.  Once the contract is fulfilled the Sheltie stays with the local family for the remainder of its life.  This program enables us to have more puppies with NO Sheltie getting overbred.

We live in northern Wisconsin, close to the Superior WI and Duluth, Minnesota, border and our second location is near Gordon WI.  We are approximately 3.5 hours from Minneapolis/St. Paul and four hours from Canada. We enjoy having people come to our home to see our well- mannered, people-pleasing Shelties.

We raise them in our living rooms. We like to keep them close to our family activities.  This allows the puppies to be nearly housebroken and ready to play when they go to their forever homes.

A Sheltie is a beautiful dog that looks like a long-haired Collie - like Lassie!  They are intelligent, gentle, affectionate, providing joy and comfort to families or those who live alone.  They also have the potential of being good guard dogs due to having a great sense of hearing and unmatched loyalty to their owners. Each year they rank in the top ten for working dogs and intelligence.

All of our breeding Shelties are AKC registered and are raised in a caring, nurturing family home, resulting in awesome temperaments and personalities.

After growing up, some of our puppies received ribbons/awards after competing in agility trials.  Agility trials are competitions in which a handler guides a dog through a course containing jumps, tunnels, weave poles, and other obstacles.  Dogs are scored according to accuracy and speed, earning titles from novice to championship level.

Shelties excel in agility because of their natural athleticism, working ability, and desire to please their owners.  Shelties routinely comprise 20 percent or more of the top 20 dogs in the AKC’s annual agility rankings.

At birth, we keep meticulous records showing the birth date, birth order, time, weight, size and markings for each puppy.  We also remove the dewclaws.

Safeguard your new puppy with a AKC Reunite microchip! We are equipped to microchip and can provide this service to you.

With only a few litters each year, our puppies are in high demand so we have created a wait list prior to arrival of a new litter. We carefully interview anyone who wishes to purchase one of our puppies to ensure we find the right person/family for the puppy's new forever home. Our puppies are exposed from birth to our young children and grandchildren and a variety of people to ensure they will be a great addition to you or your family.

In the below photo are our Shelties that live with us and some of our foster Shelties. Visiting the veterinarian is a very important part of keeping a healthy and happy dog.
